Buy with confidence

Every shop on Shopper District is an independent business, and each order is a sale between you and that shop. Here's how the site keeps that safe, and what you can do too.

Secure card checkout

Payments are handled by Stripe, a regulated payment company. We never see or store your full card number. On your statement the payment shows as the shop's name, usually after “SHOPDIST”.

Always pay on the site

Paying here gives you a receipt, a record of the order and a way to ask for a refund. Cash or a bank transfer gives you none of those. Shops aren't allowed to ask you to pay any other way.

Messages that stay here

Phone numbers, email addresses, links and payment details are hidden in messages between buyers and shops, so a conversation can't be steered off the site.

Reviews from real buyers

Only people who bought an item can review it, and shops can't edit, remove or pay to hide reviews. How reviews work.

If something goes wrong

Start on your order page

Choose Request a refund and tell the shop what happened. If you can't agree, escalate it and we'll review what you and the shop have said. We may refund you on the shop's behalf.

Good habits

Read the listing and the shop's policies before you buy, especially for personalised items, which usually can't be returned if you change your mind.
Check your personalisation text carefully: shops don't have to accept changes once they've started making your item.
Keep your questions and agreements in the site's messages, so there's a record if you need one.
Collecting in person? You still pay on the site. Check the item before you show your collection code, and never hand over cash.
If you're asked to pay outside the site, or something feels wrong, don't pay: tell us.

Spotted a problem?

If a listing breaks our rules on what can be sold, or a shop asks you to pay outside the site, please contact us with a link to the listing or shop. We can remove listings and suspend shops that break the rules.

Your statutory rights

If you're a consumer in the UK or EU you have legal rights when you buy from a business, including for faulty items. A shop's own policy can't take them away. Your card provider may also be able to help if a payment goes wrong. See Returns and refunds and our Terms of Use.
