Your browser installs apps from its own menu — follow the steps for your phone below.

On an iPhone or iPad

Use Safari — Chrome on iPhone cannot install apps.

1.Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen.
2.Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
3.Tap Add in the top corner. The icon appears on your home screen.

On an Android phone

Chrome usually offers this for you — tap Install if it does.

1.Tap the menu button in the top right of Chrome.
2.Tap Add to Home screen, or Install app if you see it.
3.Confirm with Install.

On a computer

In Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar. In Safari on a Mac, choose File → Add to Dock.

Common questions

Is it really free?: Yes. Installing costs nothing and uses a fraction of the storage a normal app would.
Why isn’t it in the App Store or Google Play?: It installs straight from your browser instead, which means you always have the latest version without waiting for an update.
Will it work without signal?: It opens and tells you when you’re offline. Browsing items, messages and checkout need a connection, same as the website.
How do I remove it?: Press and hold the icon on your home screen and choose delete or uninstall, exactly like any other app. Your account is unaffected.
